Wereld Prematurendag 2022
November 17 is World Premature Day. A day on which extra attention is drawn to the problems surrounding premature birth and the world of Neonatology.
In the Netherlands alone, approximately 15,000 babies are born prematurely each year and approximately 1,000 babies die each year as a result of their premature birth. For the children who do make it, the worries after the incubator are often far from over. Prematurely born children have a high risk of developing developmental disorders, limitations and disabilities.
With the sale of the Sophia doll and the Super Monkey, Little Dutch donates an annual amount to the Friends of the Sophie Children's Hospital Foundation in Rotterdam. With the proceeds, Little Dutch supports special projects within the children's hospital and in particular the Neonatology department. This year we started working on the design and decoration of the changing rooms to make them as pleasant as possible for baby and parent. We are still working hard on this project, but as soon as the rooms are ready, we will share this. Little Dutch is committed to the Sophia Children's Hospital and we hope to continue to contribute for years to come.
