What size baby clothes do you need?

The size of baby clothes is based on your baby’s length. Although your midwife can give you an estimate, it’s smart to buy some basics in two different sizes. Sizes 50 and 56 usually fit a newborn, but for a smaller baby, size 44 or 50 might be a better fit.If the clothes are a little big, you can often roll up the sleeves or pant legs. Just keep in mind that this doesn’t work for outfits with feet.

Being well prepared means you’ll always have the perfect little outfit within reach!

Summer baby or winter baby?

The season your baby is born in plays a big role in what kind of clothes you’ll need. In winter, layers are ideal: a cardigan, tights or leggings will keep your little one nice and warm. For summer babies, breezy bodysuits with short sleeves or spaghetti straps are just perfect. And don’t forget to always bring a little hat. Newborns often wear one, even in spring.

Soft, simple and comfy

In the first few weeks, your baby is still small and delicat and you might still be adjusting to parenthood yourself. That’s why it’s so helpful to have clothes that are easy to put on and take off. Bodysuits with snap buttons at the bottom are perfect for quick diaper changes without needing to remove the whole outfit. Make sure the clothing is soft and stretchy. Organic cotton and flexible fabrics are ideal for your baby’s sensitive skin.
Avoid hard buttons, zippers or synthetic materials that might irritate.

Mix, match & make the cutest sets

Babies grow quickly, and you’ll often need the next size before you know it. That’s why it’s smart to buy clothes in a matching colour palette or with coordinating prints and themes. It makes mixing and matching outfits super easy, without things getting too busy. It’s also practical when a pair of pants is already too small, but the top still fits just fine.

This way, you can keep creating cute combinations, even during a quick outfit change.
