Disclaimer
The words in this ABC book are not based on an existing teaching method. The most important starting point in making this book was to make fun and funny illustrations for each letter. The illustrations invite interaction.
As much as possible, a mix of simple basic words, expansion words and difficult words has been made. It was decided to put diphthongs (ei, ij, ui) under the initial letter and to choose y (i-grec or Greek ij) as the twenty-fifth letter in the alphabet.
Reading books with your little one
An adventure that starts on the very first page
Opening a book with your child… it seems so small, but it means so much. From the first soft tactile page to recognizable illustrations – reading is a loving moment full of connection. And at Little Dutch we know: stories are the gateway to wonder, language and fantasy.
Why reading books is so valuable for children aged 0 to 4
For babies and toddlers, reading is more than learning words. It is looking together, pointing, naming – and above all: enjoying each other. Every time you read a story, your bond grows and your child grows a little too.
Language starts with listening
Did you know that young children pick up language long before they can talk? By reading to them regularly, you help their vocabulary and imagination grow in a playful way.
Books are the first step to self-discovery
For toddlers, a book quickly becomes their own adventure. They leaf through it themselves, choose their favorite story (for the hundredth time) and name what they see. This is how their self-confidence and love for reading grow.
